Last updated: 28 August 2026. This policy explains what personal information The Zen Technologist ("we", "us") collects when you use https://zentechnologist.co.uk and buy our journals, and what we do with it.
Who we are
The Zen Technologist is a publishing business run by Martin Croft, based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy question, contact us at info@zentechnologist.co.uk.
What we collect
- Order information — your email address, the journals you bought and the amount paid. We use this to deliver your download, send a receipt and provide support.
- Payment information — card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Newsletter — if you choose to sign up, we store the email address you give us until you unsubscribe.
- Basket — the journals in your basket are held only in your own browser (local storage) until you check out. We don't receive them until you pay.
- Essential cookies — the site uses only the cookies needed for it to work. There is no advertising or tracking.
How we use it
We use your information to fulfil your order, provide customer support, keep proper business and tax records, and — only if you have opted in — to send occasional notes about new journals. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with the services that run the shop: Stripe (payments), our hosting and email provider (to deliver downloads and receipts) and, where print editions are ordered, the print-on-demand supplier that produces and ships the book. Each processes your data on our behalf under their own data-protection terms.
How long we keep it
Order and transaction records are kept for at least six years to meet UK tax and accounting rules. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to certain uses. Email info@zentechnologist.co.uk and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this policy changes we will post the updated version on this page.
